Hi, I'm Paul Lally and I can not believe I'm a boomer. I don't feel my age, and I certainly don't act my age, and I've got NHPTV to thank for that. When I watch public television programs I have to think, ponder, wonder and be amazed at programs like Nova, American Experience, and Frontline. They bring the world to me, and bring me to the world, and it really gets my grey matter going. You know what I'm talking about. So…want to keep staying young? Want to be a mighty boomer? Call the number on the screen. It's a snap to remember, isn't it? See what I mean?

Hi, I'm Paul Lally My kids grew up on Mister Rogers Neighborhood and Sesame Street. Now my grandkids are doing the same. What a terrific legacy public television is leaving to generation after generation of kids who -- as you and I both know all too well -- grow up all too fast. I bet you already know what I'm going to say and you're right. You and me. We make that legacy possible by giving our hard-earned money to this hard-working public television station by calling that number on your screen. What's in it for you and me? The next time you see a bunch of kids running around, remember, public television is there for them because you and I decided that we are too.

I'm the cleanup guy in our garden. My wife does all the planning and planting. I do all the weeding and hoeing. I like it that way. She thinks, I rake, and we both enjoy watching our great garden grow. You and I have been gardening here at NHPTV for a lot of years, haven't we? And it shows with every great program that comes our way because we decided, "wouldn't it be great if New Hampshire had its very own public television station?" We planted those seeds over 50 years ago, watered them with our hard-earned money, and just look at what blossomed here. Go ahead, keep this great garden growing, call the number on your screen. I'll hold your rake.

You would think that after years and years of using this, that nothing would stop me from enjoying television. And then digital came along, and High Definition television, and cable choices and channel tiers and I'm in tears because nothing's simple any more. Too many choices and not enough time. So I'm putting my foot down. Enough already. I'm watching NHPTV and that's it. I mean it. You do what you want. But if you're watching NHPTV, remember, it's public television, and that number on your screen? It's the only way to keep this beacon of sanity burning bright in a crazy world of cable channels that you need a Ph.D. to sort out. Go ahead, skip the degree, enjoy New Hampshire Public Television, and call that number. Okay? See you later.

Almost every time I turn on NHPTV, I think to myself. "Whew, dodged the bullet again. This station's still here. You think I'm kidding? Television's a dog-eat-dog world, my friend, and public television is just a puppy. A fifty year-old puppy, to be sure, but one that hasn't stopped bringing you and me programs that uplift, inspire, educate and entertain, day in and day out, 24/7, there when we need it and even there when we're not. That's what I call loyalty. What's the secret to this miracle of super-survival? Three words. Two, actually, one's just a conjunction. You and me. Our hard-earned money puts teeth in that pup, and lets NHPTV go out and play in the yard with the big boys and still keep wagging its tail.

Do I call up and contribute every time NHPTV has a pledge drive? Not on your life. If I did, I'd go broke. Do I call up every other time and hand over my credit card information? No way. Here's why. Public television's a mass medium and that means masses of people like you and me watch the great programming on NHPTV. Britcoms, Nature, the PBS Newshour, programs that make us think, laugh, and wonder about this crazy world we live in. Which leads me to my last question: do I ever call up and contribute? Do I ever go online or call the number on your screen right there? Well, my mother taught me to always say thank you when somebody did something nice for you. Time for you and me to do just that, don't you think?

Hi, I'm Paul Lally, and I'm here to tell you that I love the internet. Even when I'm not using it, I love that it's there, doing its thing, bringing the world to my doorstep. All I've got to do is open the door and start Googling my brains out. I watch a lot of stuff online, including NHPTV. How neat is that? I've got it here when I want it, and online, too. Of course, what I don't miss are the commercials. Nothing but programming here, pal, and to keep it that way, I'm willing to cough up little dough now and then. You feel the same way? I think you do. All you need is a little encouragement from a nice guy like me. Call the number on your screen. Don't make me come over there.
